English Grammar Page

This is the laboratory version of a VISL-style English Grammar page. You can either (A) work with free text, or (B) choose and clip a sentence from our closed corpus. You may also run a corpus search in order to find a sentence containing a certain word chain, grammatical feature or syntactic pattern.

• Flat syntax - running word class color notation with syntactical indexing
  
• Interactive grammar - build your own analysis (form and function), assigning menue item categories to each word in turn, with the computer tutoring your choices
  
• Open corpus search - search for words, base forms, grammatical category etc., or combinations of these, in a corpus of written English (word forms in double quotes, base forms in single quotes, tags separated by blank space, words by underscore, use '?' for one or more optional dummy words, ' ' [space] or '' [nothing] for obligatory dummy words)
  
• Closed corpus search - search in a hand-tagged teaching corpus
