Gender Genie was originally developed by Eckhard Bick as holiday entertainment for his bilingual daughter, Ina Bick-Nielsen, who thinks that grammatical gender is about tasting a word on your tongue rather than learning it from a list. Like much of modern language software, the human brain is all about rich data and pattern matching - in the case of grammatical gender, word endings. Which is why Gender Genie, after each round, will provide endings-based statistical rules to help you with difficult words. If you teach a language that is not on the list, or have a bilingual child youself, you are welcome to provide a word list with gender markup in your language, and we will be happy to add it to the quiz.
